I invite you to dig through the treasure trove of news releases and articles were made available online this past month about the exhibitions, interviews, artist profiles, book/print publications and other album cover art/artist-related topics. As you’ve seen in my previous news summaries, if you simply read the summaries I’ve written and click the links provided, you'll get the details from sources from around the world on items featuring many of your favorite – or soon to be favorite – album art creators. So over-loaded is this month’s news package that that – combined with a short month and the last day falling on a weekend - it seems as though it’ll require that I release the allotment in chunks, one large (today’s) and some smaller ones to follow later this week, with each touting the latest news about the artists, musical acts, designers, photographers, galleries, curators and publishers who produce, support and promote the works created for music recordings from all over the globe.
I would like to have you pay special attention to a new article just-published in the renowned arts and culture publication Ragazine written by – guess who – why ME of course! It’s an updated version of my interview with Elton John’s favorite art director and designer, the talented David Langham, about his work on the wonderful packaging for the now 40-year-old classic EJ record, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - http://ragazine.cc/2018/07/covering-elton-johns-gybr-mike-goldstein/
As always, I ask that you please share this info with everyone you know who are fans of great album cover-related talent and, of course, your comments and feedback are quite welcome.
To all of my readers, including the many of your outside the U.S., wherever you might be – please accept my continued wishes for Peace, Tolerance and Understanding at a time when it seems to be in short supply (and getting less-available on an almost-daily basis – what, no Summer slow-down?). Until next month - Cheers, Mike G
