Monthly ACHOF News Summary and Previews posted yesterday - I've just published the latest ACHOF monthly news summary, covering all of the news, interviews, etc., that took place during the past month (September, 2017), as well as several previews of items of interest taking place in the coming month of October.

This month’s summary finds us eerily in a similar situation that what we found ourselves in last month, when many parts of the U.S., Mexico and the Caribbean experiencing unprecedented climate-based tragedies and now, just today, another demented shooter’s rampage, and so while of course I want you to read and enjoy what I’ve presented here today, my real hope continues to be that you’ll all do whatever you can to both help the victims of these storms and shooting and create storms of your own by pressing any of your local/state/federal officials who might be stop denying the obvious to work to come up with long-term plans for better zoning, water abatement, land management, common-sense gun laws and emergency preparedness for any/all types of emergencies. Picture your record and art collections under six feet of water and I’m certain that it will put things their proper perspective.
A bit over 6000 words (20% more than last month, at no additional cost!) introducing you to the latest news about the artists, musical acts, designers, photographers, galleries, curators and publishers who support and promote the works produced by record art designers from all over the world. Exhibitions include shows built around the talents of photographers Martin Parr, Richard Prince, Trevor Key and psychedelic photo master Karl Ferris, plus shows featuring the works of Barney Bubbles, The “California Locos” (Chaz Bojórquez, Dave Tourjé, John Van Hamersveld, Norton Wisdom and Gary Wong and others) and designer/authors Spencer Drate and Judith Salavetz. You’ll learn more about profiles and interviews with artists including Danny Hastings, Daniel Johnston (“Hi, How Are You?”), Edward Steed, Taylor Swift’s favorite photographers (Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott) and the guy responsible for the mind-blowing imagery for Pink Floyd’s The Wall, Gerald Scarfe.
You’ll read about new books and prints from shooters Markus Klinko (David Bowie), Michael Spencer-Jones (Oasis) and Harry Benson (just about everyone!), plus designer Jamie Reid and two new tomes about Prog Rock and what goes on behind the scenes while your favorite records are being recorded. You’ll finish off your exploration digging through a larger-than-expected selection of articles on the talented people who continue to impress us with their ongoing efforts in the album cover design, photography and production fields, keeping both fans and clients happy with their impressive output.
Quick note - nominations and voting begins soon for this year's class of inductees to the Album Cover Hall of Fame in the areas of design, photography, illustration and other related fields. Eager to see who are the top vote-getters this year - lots of talented people still yet to be inducted, so watch this space...
All that being said, I'm certain you'll find much that'll interest you and will, therefore, be eager to let your friends and loved ones in on the secret. Please share this info with everyone you know who might be a fan of great album cover art and, of course, your comments and feedback are quite welcome.
Peace, love and understanding - Mike G
