RockPoP Gallery invades Los Angeles! The West Coast version of our traveling "We've Got You Covered" show opened last Saturday night (8-19) at the world-famous Tobey C. Moss Gallery on Beverly Blvd in West Hollywood and, if I may be so bold as to say it - it was a GREAT event.
With over 60 works of art on display, the gallery's walls were filled with rock art history - images from the 60's thru today from many of the best known illustrators and photographers in the business. Adding to the event's great vibe, some of the aforementioned artists were in attendance! We were quite honored to be able to host Richard E. Aaron (Frampton, Santana, etc.), Paul Whitehead (Genesis, VDG Generator, others), Jim McCrary (Carole King, Joe Cocker, more), and Michael James Jackson (Manuscript Originals and a great record producer, to boot!). Attendees were quite surprised and pleased to have the opportunity to ask these great talents all about their work (and get a few autographs, as well).
The show is also the first time that we've displayed the works of artists such as Winston Smith, Cal Schenkel and Jim McCrary, and all of them were very well-received. As many of the attendees were members of the local chapter of The Recording Academy, everyone had a story to tell about their association with many of the musical acts depicted in the artwork, or how those acts played a role in their decisions to make music their livelihoods.
The show is on display at the Tobey C. Moss gallery thru 9/7/2006. The gallery is located at 7321 Beverly Blvd. If you're in the area, please stop by and take a look. In the meantime, please take a look at the photos taken at the opening!
